Howdy People,
Firstly, I'll discuss Google maps. I've used Google maps before, mostly on my iPad when I'm at home and can't be bothered having to get up and go into my car to pull out my refedex.
Google maps does give you a number of ways to get to a place if you ask for directions, on the other hand, most of these seem to be along main roads, which in peak hour I tend to try to avoid, so it's useful, but doesn't always give the routes I'd most like to take. At the end of the day, I much prefer using my refedex to Google maps. I can find a route all on my own with it, and when my refedex comes off the seat next to me and loses my place, like it always inevitably does, at least it doesn't break like my iPad would if the scenario was reversed.
As for Google Docs.....I find them very useful. I've used Google Docs are a few times, mostly when I want to save something somewhere I can get access to it from anywhere, and with Google Docs I can do that. It took me awhile to get used to it, as I'm so used to using Microsoft Word, but now that I'm well acquainted with Google Docs, I quite enjoy using it.
I think it is an useful idea - you can access it anywhere provided you have access to the internet. And it's easy to use, and easy to get access to your documents when you need them, for instance, I can get access to them right now because I'm already logged into google on that account to write this blog.
Off to do Task 5,

Google.
I like Google. I think it's easy to search with, easy to find information I want, and I have two email addresses with Google's Gmail. I have one blog through blogger, and a few years ago when I was more bored than usual, I even created an igoogle homepage. So I'm a regular user of Google.
But what do I really know about Google and it's history?
The answer is almost nothing (although I'm going to rectify that after I've finished this blog). From what my rather fuzzy memory recalls, Google was created by two friends in their mid-twenties. They created a rather simple easy to use search engine, and became very very rich.
I know that Google is a fun place to work, and they're workplaces are amazing.
I also know that Google owns youtube and Android, and created Google Earth. But I don't use their tools on my mobile. It's not what I use my mobile for. But that is the extend of my knowledge.
I tried the 'I feel Lucky' search with 'Where is Chuck Norris'. I don't understand what the 'I feel Lucky' option actually is, or how it works, but I did find the result amusing.
As previously stated, I already have an igoogle homepage. I have the weater updates for 7 different cities around the world, pacman, the date and time, how the financial markets are going (badly), the news, and youtube. And a background that changes depending on the weather.
Well, I'm going look up information on google, by searching with google.

life long learning
Trying to find information on life long learning if you turn to everybody's right hand man google, is an interesting adventure.
If you're a high school or university student searching life long learning, then the first thing you're going to do is click on the fist result found, which comes from wikipedia. However, when you click on it, you discover you can't read that article on wikipedia due to an investigation of potential copyright issue. Which perhaps suggests that there is somebody out there who is currently experiencing the importance of abiding by copyright law. It's an example of the importance of life long learning in action.
So that result is clearly a dud for now.
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, the fourth search result, has an interesting article about life long learning, which speaks of the enormous importance and worth of life long learning, especially in the workplace. Some of the results of this study is both sobering and interesting. People in low skill jobs for instance, are less likely to gain training to move upward in their job due to not having as many opportunities or support from their workplace. It's definitely worth a read.
On the whole, the results are both relevant and agree with each other involving the importance of life long learning.
I liked the readwriteweb blog. It was easy to read, a bit fun, and the writer's had a bit of a sense of humour, all things that make me want to spend more time on the blog. Which is surprising, as I've never had much interest in technology.
I felt the second blog, mashable, had a bit too much information crammed on one page, it made it a bit busy, and put me off reading it. It was interesting, but I felt more comfortable with the first blog.

Blogging tools - deleting blogs
Hi Library Earthlings,
I chose to find out how to delete a blog. Why?
Not because I want to delete this blog (although by the end I might depending on just how much wringing of the hair I do), but because long ago when I was younger and more naive, I did create a blog or two using the same email address, through google's blogger, it's the reason why I chose this blog, plus the tutorials and step by step instructions are very easy to find and follow.
And I felt, seeing as I was now creating a blog for 23 things for work, that the time had come to delete the blogs I created a few years ago.
Only I didn't know how to delete them.
So I searched 'delete blog' through the google search engine, and the very first result I received on my screen, was the information I required, 'delete a blog'.
Which explained to me exactly how to delete a blog (and how to make sure I was deleting the correct blog). I have now learned that after you delete a blog, you can resurrect it within 90 days if you have accidently deleted the wrong one or if you decide you wish to keep that blog after all.
It has just occured to me that this information is perhaps not want Jake wanted for my blog post. But it is useful information so I figure I'll leave it in here.
Maybe I'll learn how to do labels for this post next?

For 23 things
Hi fellow library earthlings,
Isn't it nice to know we're all in this together involving 23 things?
This blog...is to essentially detail how I go storming, plodding, or wringing my hair out through, the tasks that makes up 23 things.
Considering I'm already a week behind, I'd say I'm currently plodding through.
It could be a wild, crazy or boring ride (doubtful), and I'm sure that at least once during this I'm going to go off into tangents in my blogs. But stay with me, I'm sure I'll have a point, reason or if I'm grasping at straws, an amusing anectode to tell.
Now if you'll excuse me, I should proceed with what I'm meant to be doing (looking through tutorial resources for the blogging tool I selected).
